Why Adidas?

Brand:

Why you should wear Adidas shoes.

I’m a considerable fan of Adidas shoes. Not so much their clothing; only their shoes.

Back about 100 years ago, I desired a sierjaslie cool pair of old skool Adidas Spezials: blue with white stripes and brown gum sole. Those things were hawt! (Still are!)

But I couldn’t find anything in our region.

So I kicked on my 56k router, slapped my amber screen to life and typed to the hum of my supercomputer, searching high and low for a pair of Spezials.

I came across a German website, way before Chrome could speak any other language than English, so I had to navigate my way through the site using the Berlitz language school ad, my only German being, “das hier ist mein sektor.”

Somehow, I not only managed to find my Adidas, I even got it delivered to my door.

That wasn’t my first pair of Adidas, but it was my favourite. I wore it through. But it didn’t happen overnight.

Just like their car manufacturers (Opel excluded), the Germans know how to build a shoe that lasts.

My Adidas Spezials lasted me more than ten years. Granted, I didn’t use it as DKW shoes, but any tekkie that lasts more than ten years is worth my money.

The nice thing about an old skool tekkie is that it just looks great, no matter what. Not that I stress over fashion. While writing this post I’m wearing a jacket with a permanent rust remover stain on the right arm. It can’t come out, and I won’t chuck the jacket.

After ten or so years, my pair of Adidas’ fabric started tearing just above the gum sole.

So I chucked them. It was time for a new pair.

My computer got slightly more advanced since then, and the internet evolved in some ways.

Finding a pair of Adidas tekkies is far easier.

I bought my next pair of Adidas. It’s not Spezials. I couldn’t find any. But I found a similar pair online, and much closer to home.

I bought a pair of Adidas Samba OG tekkies with a white skin and burgundy stripes. And gum soles, of course.

To date, I’ve played squash with them (they’re allowed on court thanks to the gum sole), I’ve danced with them, I’ve jogged with them, and I’ve even done a walk-and-stalk hunting session with them in the Karoo. (My Timberlands are better suited to the job, but the Germans pulled me through.)

I love Adidas tekkies. They’re spectacular. So browse Adidas tekkies on this site and buy a pair. You’ll help me out by buying through my affiliate link and your feet will look fancy.
